This course is an introduction to
non-representational painting principles using acrylic
paint. Of Experiment with materials and variety of
conceptual and technical approaches to abstract
painting. Based on elements of art and principles of
design, you will explore the use of colour, shapes,
line, and texture. Abstract techniques and systems will
be included, with the emphasis on technical skills and
personal expression.
Acrylic Painting
Sunday, January 28th - March 25th, 2018
10 am - 1 pm

Explore varied techniques of acrylic painting.
Demonstrations and exercises provide technical information
in mixing, colour theory, preparation gesso and brush
selection. This course references master and contemporary
painters to build a studied approach to acrylic painting.
Painting in Tuscany

Begin the Tour in Florence seeing all the
Masterworks by Michaelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci,
Rembrandt, Fra Angelico, and many others and then travel
to Villa Cuiano in Pierle in Tuscany to paint and enjoy
the scenery and cuisine and with excursions to Cortana
and Arezzo and then a farewell dinner to Tuscany in
Florence.

Biography of Fine Art Instructor:
Judith M. Atkinson
Judith M. Atkinson is a professional Artist with an
extensive exhibition record and studio practice. She has
over 30 years experience working in the community and as
a Fine Art Instructor with various School Districts,
Learning Through the Arts, The Shadbolt Centre for the
Arts and Langara College. She is an Honours graduate of
Emily Carr University of Art & Design, and studied
at the Banff School of Fine Arts, Capilano College,
Commercial Animation and with ECUAD in Florence, Italy.
She led a Painting in Tuscany tour in September 2013 for
Langara College Continuing Studies.
