Return of the Goddess:
Throughout my career, I have been captivated by the archaeology of the ancient Western world and the theme of feminine empowerment, mystical journeys, and mythological figures.
My travels to significant archaeological sites such as Delphi, the Parthenon, Knossos, and Greek ruins in Sicily have informed my paintings, both abstract and representational. The rise of the feminine in the archetypical image of Athena, the Goddess of wisdom and culture, is linked to my concerns with the environmental and Me-too movements.
I had dived into a painterly exploration of sacred sites, the cosmos, and Greek mythology in creating a large-scale installation for the Art Gallery at Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam. The exhibit was complemented by a soundscape by Joël Tibbits.
